Why HDC402-P23?

Overview

01

A dual-monitor setup for laptops and desktop PCs

Connect two USB-C laptops and two desktop PCs to the same workstation. MST-enabled laptops utilize both displays via a single USB-C port. Non-MST systems, such as macOS, require two USB-C connections and native dual-display support. Each desktop PC requires HDMI and DisplayPort.

02

Two display modes for focused or parallel work

Use one computer across both monitors, either extended or mirrored. Alternatively, display two computers side-by-side, each on its own monitor, and switch keyboard/mouse control between them.

03

Connecting two displays via one USB-C cable under Windows

A compatible Windows laptop uses DisplayPort 1.2 MST for two HDMI monitors via a single USB-C port. On macOS, you can use both USB-C ports, provided the Mac itself supports two external displays.

04

From twice 4K60 until 240 Hz

Each KVM output supports up to 3840×2160@60Hz. NiedLower resolutions allow for approximately 3440×1440@100Hz, 2560×1440@165Hz und 1920×1080@240Hz. QuelThe monitor and display must support the desired resolution and refresh rate.

05

Charging, network and devices on one dock

Share the most important ports without additional hubs:

  • 60W USB-C PD for charging the laptop
  • USB 3.0 with 5 Gbit/s for storage, webcams and more
  • Gigabit Ethernet with 1000 Mbit/s
  • Headset connection for audio and microphone

Ideal for mixed setups, home office and a tidy desk.

06

Lock your workstation with the push of a button

The lock button turns off both displays and disables audio, USB, hotkeys, and the IR remote control. Press it again and enter the set PIN to regain access.

07

Leave USB and audio on the desired computer

Assign USB devices or audio to the current computer while switching displays, keyboards, and mice. Both assignments work independently and persist after a restart – convenient for calls and ongoing transfers.

08

EDID emulation for stable displays

EDID emulation keeps display information available during switching:

  • It preserves symbol positions and window sizes.
  • Reduces black screens and flickering through renewed display detection.
  • Keeps the desktop layout stable when switching between workstations.

Without EDID emulation, icons and windows can be rearranged and displays can be reinitialized.

Data & Support

Compatibility & Connections

Schließen Sie zwei HDMI-Monitore an.

Betriebssysteme
Unterstützt werden Windows, macOS, Unix sowie Linux-Systeme wie Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora und Raspbian.

Frequently asked questions

You can find further answers in our Help Center.

[Compatibility] Does the KVM support Mac and Windows?

Yes. The HDC402-P23 supports Windows, macOS, Unix, Raspberry Pi OS and Linux, including Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora and Raspbian.

[Compatibility] What features must the USB-C port on the laptop support?

DisplayPort Alt Mode for video and USB data transfer. Charging or data-only ports do not offer full KVM functionality.

[Compatibility] Why does the Mac show mirrored displays or only one display?

macOS does not support extended MST displays. Connect your Mac to both USB-C ports on its input group and check if it supports two external displays. Some M3 models require the laptop lid to be closed for this to work.

[Compatibility] What resolutions and refresh rates are possible?

The HDC402-P23 supports resolutions up to 3840×2160 at 60 Hz. Lower resolutions include 3440×1440 at 100 Hz, 2560×1440 at 120 Hz, 2560×1080 at 165 Hz, and 1920×1080 at 240 Hz. Actual output depends on the source, display, and cables.

[Functions] How do I switch between USB and audio independently?

Assign USB or audio to the current computer using the respective keys. Video remains independently switchable. The designated keyboard/mouse ports cannot be locked.

[Functions] Why doesn't the monitor go into sleep mode after being locked?

Some monitors still detect the HDMI clock signal. A suitable firmware update can completely disable the HDMI signal. Contact TESmart support for the correct firmware and instructions.

[Connections] Why doesn't Wi-Fi work after connecting the KVM?

The computer may prefer the wired KVM network adapter. Pressing right Ctrl twice and then F4 disables it. Alternatively, disable "Realtek USB GbE Family Controller" in the operating system.

[Load] Why is the laptop reporting slow loading?

The HDC402-P23 delivers up to 60 W at 20 V/3 A. If higher power is required or if 20 V support is unavailable, the laptop may charge slowly. In that case, use the original power adapter as well.

[Functions] Are firmware updates possible?

Yes. Updates can improve compatibility or fix certain issues. Only install firmware for the HDC402-P23. TESmart support will provide the appropriate file and instructions.

[Connections] Why aren't my USB devices working?

Check USB-C Input A for PC1/PC2 or the USB-B cable for PC3/PC4. Devices other than the keyboard and mouse should be connected to the standard USB ports. For high power or bandwidth requirements, use a powered USB hub or a direct connection to the computer.

[Connections] Why isn't my audio device working?

Connect USB-C Input A for PC1/PC2 or USB-B for PC3/PC4. In the sound settings, select "USB Audio" for the 3.5 mm jack or the connected USB audio device.

[Functions] How do I adjust the fan?

Pressing right Ctrl twice and then F3 toggles between Off, Automatic, Low, and High. Automatic is the default setting.

[Furnishings] How do I connect my devices to the KVM switch?

Connect Windows MST laptops to PC1/PC2 using USB-C Input A. For macOS or other systems without MST, use Inputs A and B. PC3/PC4 require HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB. Connect two monitors to HDMI OUTPUT A/B, and then connect a keyboard, mouse, USB devices, and audio. HDMI monitor cables are not included.

[Switch] How do I switch keyboards and mice between two computers?

In display mode 2, pressing the right Alt key twice toggles keyboard/mouse control between the displayed computers. A firmware update may be required for switching on the control panel.

[Furnishings] Why aren't the keyboard and mouse working properly?

If hotkeys are working, press right Ctrl twice and then F2 for Legacy Emulation Mode. If problems persist or hotkeys are unresponsive, contact TESmart support.
