FAQs
Can the Thunderbolt expansion port be used to connect a monitor with a USB-C interface?
Yes, but please note the following:
Limited port assignment:
The Thunderbolt expansion port is exclusively assigned to PC1. Therefore, a monitor connected to it can only display the image from PC1 and not that from PC2.
Limited display expansion:
Due to the output capacity of the Thunderbolt controller, the HDC202-X24 does not support triple-display expansion.
If monitors are connected to the Thunderbolt expansion port and the two HDMI output ports simultaneously, the device prioritizes the first two detected monitors for video output.
As a result, only a dual-monitor expansion can be achieved.
Port functionality:
The Thunderbolt expansion port acts as a downstream interface, directly connected to the Thunderbolt port of PC1.
In addition to connecting a USB-C monitor, it can also be used to connect external hard drives, keyboards, mice, USB sticks and other USB peripherals.
Note: Do not connect laptops, AC adapters, or other power-consuming devices to the Thunderbolt expansion port. Incorrect connection may damage the KVM switch's internal controller.
My monitor supports 4K@144Hz (or 8K). Can this KVM switch handle that?
No. Due to the bandwidth limitations of the Thunderbolt video output protocol, the KVM switch only supports a maximum video output of dual 4K@60Hz.
Can dual-display output be achieved when connected to a macOS computer?
Yes. If the macOS computer natively supports two or more external displays (e.g., M1 Pro/Max, M2 Pro/Max, M3 Pro/Max, or M4 Pro/Max), the KVM switch can provide extended dual-display output.
Can the fan speed be adjusted?
No. The fan operates in an automatic control mode and cannot be manually adjusted. The system automatically activates or stops the fan based on the internal temperature to ensure stable device performance.
If the following conditions occur:
The fan starts and stops frequently.
The fan noise is relatively loud.

Why does my laptop show "Slow Loading"?
Charging power limitation:
To ensure stability and reduce heat generation, the KVM switch offers up to 60W (20V 3A) of charging power. This is usually sufficient for business laptops. However, if your laptop does not support a 20V input or is a high-powered device, the charging speed may be limited.
For high-performance devices (gaming/workstation laptops):
Devices requiring 90W–120W or more may charge slowly. We recommend using the original laptop power adapter in parallel with the KVM connection.
Additional information:
Ensure good ventilation around the KVM switch to avoid overheating.
If the KVM switch is not going to be used for an extended period of time, it is best to turn it off.
Why aren't my keyboard and mouse working properly?
Common symptoms:
Keyboard input is unresponsive or delayed;
Keystrokes get stuck or are registered twice;
Mouse movements lag or stutter;
Keyboard shortcuts (hotkeys) do not work.
Recommended solutions:
Try switching to Legacy Emulation mode to improve compatibility with a wider range of keyboards and mice: Press [Right Ctrl] + [Right Ctrl] + [F2].

Does the KVM switch support firmware updates?
Yes, TESmart KVM switches support official firmware updates designed to fix common problems and improve compatibility.
Important NOTE:
Firmware updates carry inherent risks. Installing the wrong version or performing the process incorrectly can lead to device malfunctions. Therefore, it is strongly advised against performing a firmware update yourself if your device is functioning normally.
